Rudeshiem Christmas Market

04th - 7th December 2008

Thursday:  An early morning start for our journey to the  Port of Dover where we join our P&O ferry for a relaxed channel crossing with time for breakfast and tax paid shopping on board. On arrival at the Port of Calais we continue the journey through France and Belgium and over the boarder to west Germany and our base at Rudesheim. Evening dinner is taken with a brief time to explore the near by Christmas Markets by night before retiring. 

Friday:  After breakfast, as an optional extra - guests are invited to join  a short tour to Boppard for a brief visit then take a Christmas Cruise on the Rhine with reflections of the Christmas season. Snacks and hot food are available on board! We shall return to Rudeshiem in the early afternoon. Rüdesheim transforms itself into a very special place. More than 120 stands from 12 nations offer their products, specialities and traditions in one of the most beautiful market atmospheres around the historical centre of Rüdesheim and the world famous Drosselgasse. The Christmas traditions from all over the world are presented in their distinctive manner. Many shops have an excellent choice of Christmas decorations and presents.The Rüdesheim wine growers open their cellars with winter specialities; cosy restaurants and wine bars attract with the Rheingau cuisine and typical advent products. Presented on the Market square is Europe’s largest nativity landscape with life size figures. Countless event activities: concerts, performances, parades and daily surprises from the Rüdesheim Christkind and the Advents calendar. Evening dinner is at our hotel.  

Saturday:  After a leisurely breakfast - a completely free day to come and go as you please from our centrally located hotel. Be at liberty to enjoy all the attractions that Rudesheim has to offer. Evening dinner is served then a relaxed time with entertainment of your choice. 

Sunday:  Immediately after breakfast our homeward journey commences as we travel across the borders into Belgium and France to Calais in time to board a late afternoon ferry for the Port of Dover. We shall arrive home laden with German goodies, during mid-evening after our exciting and rewarding Christmas ‘cracker’. 

The Hotel: The Lindenwirt Hotel is located in the heart of the historic city of Rudesheim. The hotel is close to many of the local attractions, such as the Rhine ships, cable-railway and museums. All rooms at the Lindenwirt Hotel feature private baths, televisions and telephones. The hotel offers a range of restaurants, a garden and wine cellary.
