The Winter Lakeland Experience

22nd - 27th February 2009

Sunday - We travel to the Lake District with ample comfort stops to include a visit to the K Village Outlet shopping centre. We’ll arrive at the hotel in time to relax before evening dinner. Live entertainment will be featured on some of the evenings.

Monday – Today we enjoy cruising on Lake Windermere viewing magnificent mountain scenery and secluded bays. Also visiting Ambleside for lunch and Bowness for afternoon tea. Evening dinner is served later.

Tuesday – After a hearty breakfast our scenic circular tour to the Lakeland National Park visits Coniston and Windermere where we visit the Lake District Visitor Centre. Enjoy an exciting exhibition and lunch of your choice before completing the tour and returning to the hotel for dinner.

Wednesday – Today we visit Keswick, then cruise Lake Ullswater and on to Ambleside for a short lunch break. Dove Cottage and Wordsworth museum offers an enchanting visit - "Here the rainbow comes - the cloud - And mists that spread the flying shroud." Evening dinner rounds off a perfect day.

Thursday - After a leisurely start you are invited to take an interesting train ride via Morcambe Bay to Lancaster. Time here to enjoy the University city and lunch before returning to Grange-over-Sands. On arrival we take the short journey to the medieval town of Cartmel, a truly idyllic, picturesque village where we take the opportunity for a guided tour of Cartmel Priory and an inevitable visit to the famous Sticky Toffee pudding shop before returning to the hotel for dinner.

Friday – Departing after breakfast we head south for a lunch time visit to Warwick. Well known for its castle and interesting town there’s time for lunch of your choice before the final leg of our journey to complete our treat of a Winter Lakeland experience.

The Hotels:

The Cumbria Grand, built in 1880 is ideally situated for this tour. Set in 20 acres of private gardens and woodlands and overlooking Morecambe Bay you will receive a warm and friendly welcome at this charming 3 Star Victorian Hotel. All rooms have radio, colour tv, telephone, hospitality tray and central heating. With its commanding views across the Bay the Restaurant offers you an attractive setting for the enjoyment of the well prepared food from the carvery complemented by fine wines.
