Italian Dolomites, Lake Garda & Verona

05th - 12th September 2009

Saturday - We travel to Dover to board a ferry for the channel crossing to Calais, then the onward journey to an overnight stop at Saarlouis in Germany.

Sunday - After breakfast a beautiful day of scenery as we head south through the Austrian Tyrol. We cross the Europa Bridge into Italy and then travel on to Fondo via the Delle Palade Pass to our base hotel in time for evening dinner.

Monday - Enjoy breakfast then a day of leisure to explore the pretty village of Fondo and enjoy the hotel’s excellent hospitality. From the village it is possible to walk through the Sas Gorge to the idyllic Lake Smeraldo. Evening dinner concludes the day.

Tuesday - Breakfast then a visit to Verona to see the Amphitheatre, Castel Vecchio Fortress and the house of Romeo & Juliet and many other attractions in this beautiful city before we return to our hotel.

Wednesday - Take breakfast then a full day to Lake Garda. Riva, with its harbour and maze of small streets, is worth some hours exploration so relax and enjoy the local cuisine before the return journey and evening dinner.

Thursday - A mid morning start offers a spectacular scenic drive to the old spa town of Merano where you can relax over lunch and explore the beautiful Austrian architecture, numerous shops and taste the towns famous coffee and pastries. We’ll return to the hotel during mid afternoon to offer a relaxing period before evening dinner.

Friday - An early breakfast then we depart Italy and on to our overnight stop in Saarlouis. Evening dinner and a good nights rest!

Saturday - Breakfast is followed by our onward journey to Calais for our cross channel ferry to Dover and home. Another first class ShortBreak!

• The Hotels:

The overnight hotel is the Victor’s Residenz Hotel located in Saarlouis, Germany. Rooms have satellite tv, wireless Internet, telephones and modern functional furnishings with private facilities. Our base hotel at Fondo is a super, 3 star, family run hotel that offers a very warm welcome and outstanding hospitality. The hotel has a spa and a indoor pool. Bedrooms are spacious and offer every comfort, including colour TV-SAT, telephone, safe, en suite shower room and hair drier. All floors are served by lift.
