Highlights of North Wales

05th - 9th August 2012

Sunday –   Departing at breakfast time we head for Shrewsbury with ample comfort stops to take an extended lunch stop. Explore Shrewsbury’s picturesque cobbled alleys and squares and be astounded by the exceptional number of interesting, independent shops Around every corner is a great cafe, restaurant or pub, drop in and enjoy...or just relax.  On to our hotel at Beddgelert in time for evening dinner.


Monday - Enjoy breakfast and a day when we explore the scenic Snowdonia National Park. We board the newly opened Welsh Highland Railway for the journey from Caernarfon to Porthmadog which now traverses the famous Aberglaslyn Pass. We’ll rejoin the coach and continue the scenic trail by road, returning to the hotel in time to relax over evening dinner.

Tuesday - Breakfast is followed by an excursion to Anglesey to visit the historic Beaumaris Castle one of Wales’ finest fortified castles. Time here for an early lunch before an afternoon visit to Betws-y-coed via Capel-Curig in the Snowdonia National Park. Evening dinner rounds of your day.

Wednesday - Breakfast before we journey to Colwyn Bay for time at leisure. The long Promenade follows the vast sweep from Old Colwyn to Penrhyn Bay and gives much pleasure to aid relaxation. This afternoon enjoy a visit to one of the world’s finest gardens; Bodnant, situated above the River Conwy with stunning views across Snowdonia. It features huge Italianate terraces and formal lawns on its upper level with a wooded valley, stream and wild garden below. A mid afternoon return to our hotel gets us back in time to enjoy evening dinner.

Thursday - A final Welsh breakfast then we head for home with an extended lunch stop in Warwick before completing our journey home in the early evening to finalise a beautiful Welsh tour.
