We combine this special day out with a visit to Salisbury Cathedral with a chance to enjoy Salisbury Market. Director of Cathedral Flowers, Michael Bowyer MBE and his co-designers Angela Turner and Pam Lewis have shared their vision for the festival. Called Confluence it will be one of a series of events and activities marking the 800th anniversary of the founding of the Cathedral on its present site and the development of the modern city of Salisbury. The army of arrangers needed to create the displays will take part in a series of workshops before transforming the Cathedral, ready for the festival’s opening day. the Flower Festival will celebrate movement to “reflect on the enormous level of human and spiritual endeavour that was required to make this move and grow the city.” Also take time to enjoy lunch and Salisbury Market. Although it is held outdoors in all weathers throughout the year, it never fails to please the shopper and browser alike. Colourful, noisy, bustling, friendly and full of enticing aromas; from freshly ground coffee and fresh bread to hot doughnuts, hog roast and newly cut flowers Salisbury Market has it all!
