With a superb base in vibrant Dundee, together with our tour highlights, this delightful tour offers all the ingredients to provide the perfect opportunity to explore the wonderful county and surrounding areas. Steeped in history, our exciting itinerary will not disappoint.
Wednesday: We travel to Dundee with ample comfort stops taking in the changing landscapes as we cross the borders toward our destination in time for evening dinner.
Thursday: After a Scottish breakfast, we visit Dundee with its new waterfront development to enjoy. During the day, we include a visit to the Verdant Works Jute Mill. Step back in time to when Dundee supplied much of the world’s demand for jute. See and hear the tales of the mill workers in this beautifully refurbished mill building. This afternoon is at leisure to explore the city. See Captain Scott’s ship the RRS Discovery (optional extra TBA) and the newly opened V & A Museum, the first Victoria and Albert Museum outside of London. We return to our hotel for evening dinner.
Friday: After breakfast this morning we follow in the footsteps of countless kings at Scone Palace. Explore the unique collections at your own pace with guides in each room to answer questions before stepping outside where over 100 acres of fabulous Perthshire grounds are waiting to be discovered. Later, we travel to Perth for a guided tour of the Black Watch Museum, housed in the dramatic Balhousie Castle. Our guide will bring to life the fascinating story of Scotland’s oldest Highland regiment. After leisure time in Perth, we return to our hotel allowing time to rest before evening dinner.
Saturday: A hearty Scottish breakfast then to the Kingdom of Fife and the Royal Burgh of Culross today where we visit Culross Palace. This ochre-coloured building is beautifully refurbished with its atmospheric tiny rooms, passageways, painted ceilings and restored 17th century garden. There’s time to stroll along charming, peaceful streets which were once full of the hustle and bustle of a thriving 17th-century port where some streets are cobbled and uneven. Next, we head for time at leisure in the city of Stirling. Wander around the old town and see the castle in which many a Scottish King and Queen has been crowned. Evening dinner awaits back at our hotel.
Sunday: Bidding farewell to our Scottish hosts our day of travel heads homeward with ample comfort stops to the local area to arrive during mid evening after a stunning tour full of interest and delights.
