A 2-night, 3-day tour – Saturday 26th to Monday 28th November 2022

Bury St Edmunds Christmas Market • Historic Holt • Thursford Spectacular • City of Ely

This now traditional and annual visit to Norfolk includes visits to the award winning Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre, the City of Ely and of course Thursford – home to the famous Christmas Spectacular

Saturday: A breakfast time departure with a comfort stop en-route, then to Bury St Edmunds. The award winning Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre is now in its twentieth year and gets bigger and better every time. With over 300 stalls situated all around the historic Georgian town centre it has the perfect mix of old and new. The Fayre has something for everyone and includes a cookery theatre and food area in the cathedral grounds, a fun fair on Angel Hill and in the Abbey Gardens and much, much more. Christmas is a magical time here! Surrounded by countryside with 1,000 years of history, Bury St Edmunds – the home of Saint Edmund, the original patron Saint of England – offers visitors award-winning restaurants and fantastic shopping. Visit the magnificent St Edmundsbury Cathedral and stand among the ruins of the Abbey of St Edmund in the stunning Abbey Gardens, once the most famous and wealthy pilgrimage location in England. Later, we travel on to our hotel to relax before evening dinner is served.

Sunday: After an enjoyable breakfast, we enjoy our traditional coffee stop at Holt with its fine 18th century Georgian buildings which make the town one of the most attractive in north Norfolk. The town is home to many art galleries, antique and book shops and places to eat located along the high street and tucked away in hidden, charming courtyards and alleyways. On to Thursford with time to enjoy lunch of your choice and the pre-show gift shops. Next, sit back and enjoy the Christmas Spectacular which is an extravaganza of non-stop singing, dancing, music, humour and variety. It’s a fast-moving celebration of the festive season featuring an eclectic mix of both seasonal and year-round favourites. With a cast of 130 it is the biggest Christmas show of its kind in Europe! Evening dinner on return at our hotel.

Monday: After breakfast, our homeward journey includes an extended lunch stop at the cathedral city of Ely. A chance to top up your Christmas shopping here and enjoy lunch of your choice. The city is on the River Great Ouse and was a significant port until the 18th century, when the Fens were drained and Ely ceased to be an island. Considered one of the seven wonders of the medieval world, the cathedral is a definite must-see destination. After our exciting show stopper weekend, we’ll arrive in the local area to arrive during early evening.
